Presented to the pharmacist who has demonstrated dedication to the profession of pharmacy, contributed time and effort to the various professional organizations, furthered the profession of pharmacy through community service and embodied those qualities of attitude and leadership which exemplified the profession.

This Year's Recipient

The 2009 Pharmacists of the Year Award was presented to Gayle Cotchen, PharmD.

Cotchen has contributed much time and effort to the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) and a variety of professional organizations on the national, state, and county level. She has furthered the profession through her community service efforts and embodies the qualities of attitude and leadership which exemplify the profession of pharmacy.

She has been very involved in PPA through her service as Constitution and Bylaws Committee Chair, Secretary of the Academy of Health System Pharmacists, Award Committee member, and continuing education presenter. During PPA’s strategic planning process, she participated in both the Steering Committee and Governance Task Force. She is a past president of the Allegheny County Pharmacists Association, an active alumni member of Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, and is currently Senior Pharmacist at Magee Women’s Hospital. She leads the profession quietly, serving as a role model and example to those around her.
