PQC
The Pharmacy Quality Committment Program

Are you a Medicare Part D Pharmacy?

Are you a compliant with CMS regulations that “require” a Quality Assurance program to be in place? CMS regulations under §423.153 requires a Quality Assurance program.  Many PDP and MA-PD Pharmacy Contracts already “require” compliance. Will you pass their audits?

Not sure what to do?
Have questions about this requirement?
Let PPA help you comply!

Overview of the PQC Program
PQC ® is a continuous quality improvement system that was developed for the purpose of providing risk management services to pharmacists.  It strives to reduce medication errors in the pharmacy by offering methods for improvement and a feedback system that allows the pharmacist to elevate the quality of patient care. It promotes a non-punitive, blame free environment that recognizes that pharmacists are human and that humans make mistakes.

The continuous quality improvement program is a two part system (Sentinelsm System and Quality Managersm audit system) that enables a pharmacy to identify, document and analyze workflow through a simple web based data entry system.  The  Sentinelsm System offers a standardized workflow system for the pharmacy to set up based on “best practices”.  The Quality Managersm  audit system directs that the pharmacy collect daily records of mistakes, near misses and errors on an audit form and then enter this information into the secure PQC database. The pharmacist, or other personnel preparing the audit form, is asked to indicate where in the process the quality related event (or QRE) was caught and corrected, what type of QRE it was, where it was made, and whether or not it reached the patient.  The data is then transferred into the pharmacy’s database. Once information is recorded for a few days, the pharmacist is able to format graphs and charts of entered data and is able to track medication errors and quality failures within the pharmacy and establish plans of improvement.

PPA is offering the Pharmacy Quality Commitment Program at a special discounted price to our members.
