Any registrations received after April 2, 2018 are not guaranteed registrations after this day may not receive the law review course manual, rather a stapled copy of the content.

 

No refunds will be made for cancellations received after April 2, 2018.  Refunds prior to that date are subject to a $25 administration fee.  Requests for refunds may be faxed to 717-236-1618, emailed to ppa@papharmacists.com, or mailed to the address below.  Phone cancellations will not be accepted.

 

The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) is proud to present this year’s Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination® (MPJE) Law Review course.

 

This is an opportunity for pharmacy students to brush up on knowledge of federal and Pennsylvania pharmacy laws prior to sitting for exams.

 

Courses are offered at a special discount to those students who are members of PPA.

 

The course syllabus will include: Controlled Substances and included schedules, inventory, refills, labeling, and other requirements; The Food Drug and Cosmetic Act and related amendments, the Poison Prevention, Prescription Drug Marketing, and Tamper Resistant Packaging Acts; Pennsylvania Drug labeling; OBRA 90; Pharmacy Act and Regulations; prescribing authorities of other practitioners, PA Department of Health, PA Hospital, and PA Long Term Care regulations; and much more.  Certainly all of these items provide a solid review for preparation for the MPJE.

 

*Full Event Registration includes course materials - a study manual with handouts, six hours of review and prep time, continental breakfast, breaks, and lunch. Lunch is not included with single course/half day packages.

 

Schedule for the Course:

Federal and Pennsylvania Review

April 14, 2018

 

8:00 am– Registration/Continental Breakfast

8:30 am– Federal Course begins

12:30 pm– Lunch

1:15 pm– Pennsylvania Course begins

4:00 pm– Course concludes

 

 

*Short breaks – sodas will be provided – will occur during both the a.m. and p.m. sections.  Course will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and follow a full schedule. Please note that ending times are approximate.

About The Instructor:

Kimberly Burns, JD.

Kimberly Burns is a Professor at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy, located in Erie, PA.  She received her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy (cum laude) and her Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University Law School (cum laude).  She is both a licensed pharmacist and attorney in Pennsylvania.

Kim has been a professor at the LECOM School of Pharmacy since 2002.  Her teaching responsibilities include Pharmacy Law and Ethics and an elective advanced practice rotation site at the Erie County Department of Health, where she primarily contributes to local prescription drug abuse efforts.  In addition to her academic career, she practiced community pharmacy for over 15 years and has consulted on various legal cases regarding pharmacy law issues.  She has also written a number of papers and commentaries, and has made presentations at the local, state, and national level on a variety of pharmacy law topics. 

Professor Burns has been active in several state and national pharmacy organizations, including the American Society of Pharmacy Law where she served as board member and president.  Professor Burns has also been recognized with various awards for her leadership and contributions to community service, research, and teaching.
