Title: Improving Patient Safety in the Treatment of Diabetes: Opportunities for Pharmacy

Join us for this encore presentation of a continuing education program presented at PPA's 2015 Mid-Year Conference!

This program provides Patient Safety CE credit to pharmacists AND pharmacy technicians!

Insulin has been associated with more medication errors than any other drug class and hospitalization rates for hypoglycemia now exceed those for hyperglycemia.  Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in both outpatient and inpatient settings are on the front lines of the battle to improve safety among patients treated for diabetes.  This interactive program will use a case based approach to make participants aware of common mistakes in the treatment of diabetes.  Participants will discuss and apply strategies to identify and prevent errors related to insulin and oral diabetes agents.

Speaker:
Autumn Stewart, PharmD, BCACP, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Duquesne University, Mylan School of Pharmacy
Target Audience: Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in community and health system practices.
CE Credit: 1.0 Contact Hour (0.10 CEUs)
