Title: Effectively Precepting Millennial Pharmacy Students

The purpose of this program is for preceptors to gain a comfort level to be able to understand students on rotation so that they can relate to their educational and developmental needs more successfully and be more effective preceptors.  As a foundation to becoming a good preceptor, it is essential for preceptors to appreciate the unique learning characteristics of the current generation of millennial pharmacy students.   It is equally imperative for preceptors to accept that their student’s learning styles may differ from their own and be willing to adapt to that change when necessary.   Important educational strategies for millennial students that will be addressed include enhancing student-preceptor communication, providing appropriate feedback, and engaging students by providing structured active-learning.  Understanding students on rotation will allow preceptors to relate to their educational and developmental needs more successfully and ultimately become more effective preceptors.
