Title: Precepting: Connect, Collaborate, and Care with Students

Looking to enhance your rotation? Want to become a preceptor? This program was designed to discuss the ACPE requirements for Experiential Education and also the skills necessary for effective precepting. This program will uncover the many ways to build an effective learning experience and provide insight to precepting. The presentation will focus on the benefits of precepting for preceptors, students, community pharmacists, and the profession of pharmacy as a whole. Ultimately, the presentation will ensure that each preceptor prepares a student pharmacist to enter practice or his/her next level of training.

Speaker:

Katherine A. Sulkowski, PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist, Gateway Health Plan®, Rite Aid Pharmacy

Katie Sulkowski graduated from Duquesne University in May of 2015 and is currently a full-time pharmacist for Gateway Health Plan®, a local managed Medicaid and Medicare organization, where she is able to review requests for a variety of medications and provide clinical judgement and rationale for their approval or denial. She also works part-time in the community at local Rite Aid Pharmacies on an as-needed basis where she enjoys serving patients in the community. She has a strong passion for students and precepting; as a pharmacy student she tutored younger students through the Rho Chi Honors Society. She hopes to become a Duquesne University preceptor and obtain a Master's Degree in Business Administration in the near future!
