Title: Digital Health 102: Patient Resources in Pharmacy Practice

This presentation will discuss updates to the digital health landscape and discuss patient-specific resources that pharmacists might recommend in their practice. Resources covered will range from information resources, apps, and wearable devices. Presenters will share available resources and provide advice on critiquing them for accuracy, relevance, and security of information. Participants will be asked to use this advice to analyze presented topics in the context of the role and benefit in their practices. This session will be interactive and participants will be encouraged to have smart devices accessible in order to actively participate.

Speakers:

Kyle McCormick, PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist, Gatti Pharmacy and RxHealthConnect

Although having no formal education on digital health, Dr. McCormick's passion for the developing field has led him to where he is today. He has worked on several projects in the field and presented on digital health in a variety of settings.


Ravi Patel, PharmD, Pharmacy Innovation Research Fellow, University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy

To learn how innovation applies to pharmacy practice and education, Dr. Patel, upon completing his PharmD education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, entered into the Pharmacy Innovation Research Fellowship to define, identify, and explore innovations.

Program Objectives for Pharmacists:

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to
1. List four patient-specific resources that a pharmacist could recommend in practice
2. Discuss the influence of accuracy, relevance, and security considerations in patient utility of digital resources
3. Suggest digital patient resources to recommend to patients in practice
4. Utilize sources of digital health information and news regarding patient information resources

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to
1. List four patient-specific resources that a technician could use for reference in practice
2. Discuss the influence of accuracy, relevance, and security considerations in patient utility of digital resources
3. Suggest digital patient resources to review with patients in practice
4. Utilize sources of digital health information and news regarding patient information resources
