Your Guide to Navigating the Diabetes Education Program Accreditation Jungle

 

Are you confused about the steps needed to get a diabetes education program accredited through the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) or the American Diabetes Association (ADA)? Would you like to learn more about the overall process? Join us for an introductory program that will walk you through the steps and requirements needed for accreditation!

Karen Hoang is from Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy in 2016. She completed a PGY1 Community Pharmacy Practice Residency with the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and Rite Aid Corporation. She is now currently a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the MTM Services department at UPMC Health Plan and a staff pharmacist with Rite Aid.

Program Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to
1. Describe the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) diabetes education program accreditation process
2. Summarize the American Diabetes Association (ADA) diabetes education program accreditation process
3. Compare and contrast the differences between the AADE and ADA program accreditation processes and requirements
4. Outline how PPA can assist your pharmacy in becoming accredited

Requirements to receive credit: Participants must attend the entire program and complete an online evaluation survey within one week. PPA must have your CPE Monitor ID and birthday on file to issue credit.
