**This event is open to only pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy students.

 

Schedule of Events:

6:00 - 6:55 PM - Networking, Sign-In

7:00 - 7:55 PM* - Dinner served, Lilly dinner presentation on " Options in Basal Insulin: Basaglar" Speaker: Kenneth Hoellein, MD

Wine and beer will be served with dinner.

This will be an informational dinner presentation on basal insulin management and the therapeutic actions of Basaglar.

8:05 - 8:40 PM*+ - PPA CE Program "Opioid Dispensing Guidelines" Presenter: Robert Frankil, RPh ($20 fee for all non PPA/BMPA members)

8:45 - 9:15 PM - Open business meeting

9:20 PM - Adjournment

-- The dinner presentation is free to all PPA/BMPA members and non-members.  The CE program is free to members of PPA/BMPA, non-members will be charged a $20 fee to receive CE credit. If you are not a member and do not want CE credit, please do not select this option when registering.

+ Meeting attendees will be provided with either a link to view the slides on hand-held devices, or the slide deck which should be printed and brought to the meeting.  Slides will not be projected during the presentation.

 


Addressing Opioid Abuse and Addiction

   

Presenter: Robert Frankil, RPh, President, Sellersville Pharmacy, Inc.

Rob is a Past President of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, currently serves on the BMPA Board of Directors, and is a member of the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy. He is the President of Sellersville Pharmacy and Sellersville Pharmacy at Penn Foundation, an LTC pharmacy which specializes in addiction treatment.


Program Objectives for Pharmacists: At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

1. List the current Guidelines available from various allied health care provider organizations

2. Recognize key elements from each of the available Guidelines

3. Describe the clinical and legal responsibilities of the pharmacist in dispensing controlled substances

4. Utilize the Guidelines to create best practices in a variety of practice settings

5. Employ the multiple resources available on the PPA website to enhance understanding of the opioid crisis in Pennsylvania and what steps can be used to combat it

 

Program Objectives for Pharmacy Technicians: At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

1. List the current Guidelines available from various allied health care provider organizations

2. Recognize key elements from each of the available Guidelines

3. Employ the multiple resources available on the PPA website to enhance understanding of the opioid crisis in Pennsylvania and what steps can be used to combat it

Requirements to receive CE credit: Participants must be present for the entire program, sign the sign-in sheet, and complete an online evaluation survey within one week. PPA must have your CPE Monitor ID and birthday on file to issue credit.
