From time to time, PPA finds it necessary to call upon our members
to do some grassroots lobbying – to reach out in
a timely fashion and contact their legislator
regarding a specific issue that PPA either
supports or opposes. We utilize two
different means for doing this - 1) Rx Alerts
and 2) Calls to Action
Rx Alerts
are immediate items.
This means we
need activity and response within a very short
amount time, often 24 hours. It is
crucial that PPA members take the time to
respond to Rx Alerts as soon as possible by
calling, faxing, or emailing their legislator.
Sometimes the time frame is extremely short and
critical and it is important that legislators
here from their constituents.
Calls to
Action are requests for member to take some sort
of action but not necessarily quite as
immediately as with an Rx Alert. A Call to
Action might be something a member can respond
to in the next week or two.
Anytime a
member responds to a Rx Alert or Call to Action, it is also
helpful to copy and/or inform the PPA office of this
contact and any pertinent response they might
receive.
