Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association Celebrates 140th Anniversary with New Logo

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) is proud to announce the launching of a new logo to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the association’s founding in 1878.

Designed by PPO&S, an integrated marketing and communications firm in Harrisburg, PA, the logo also ties in with the celebration of the association’s 140th year of advocating for the profession and advancing patient care. Celebrations will officially kickoff at the 2018 Mid-Year Conference held at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square in Lancaster, PA, January 25-28, 2018. From January 1st, 2018 to December 31, 2018, a 140th anniversary tagline will be included on the new logo to signify the association’s 140 years of operation.

Designed to incorporate the many aspects of PPA, the new logo still includes pharmacy’s historic color green but with a fresh take. While the image of a mortar and pestle was retained to reference the traditional illustration of pharmacists preparing medications for patients, a depiction of a heart was then included to symbolize the pharmacist’s caring nature and how the profession is changing to the provision and addition of a more patient care centered approach to the practice of pharmacy. The combination of both preparing medication and caring for patients defines the profession but more importantly the members of the association who are the heart and at the center of the Association. PPA’s previous logo was adopted in 2008.

Other affiliates of the association have also adopted a new look including the subsidiary charitable PPA Educational Foundation which includes the new graphical element and type along with a wordmark of the same name and Political Action Committee PharmPAC, which features a red, white and blue color palette that marks a political identity and focus. The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Care Network (PPCN) logo, also designed by PPO&S, adopted a new look two years prior to this new family of logos and will not be changing. It also features a heart which shows a complementary relationship between PPA and the subsidiary patient care operations that it provides. The affiliated county associations of PPA also have the opportunity to adopt a related logo theme showcasing the connection between the subsidiary group and PPA.
