2015-16 Legislative Successes

Legislation Signed Into Law

  • Act 169 of 2016 (PBM Registration, Generic Drug Pricing Transparency, Pharmacy Audit Integrity, and PACE Reimbursement): On November 21, 2016, after a decade-long fight with PBMs and the Insurance Industry, PPA is happy to announce that Governor Wolf signed Act 169 of 2016 into law.  This act, a priority of PPA's for many legislative sessions, takes a giant step forward towards greater transparency between PBMs and community pharmacies. Click here for more information.
  • Acts 122, 123, and 124 of 2016 (Opioid Related Bills): Acts 122, 123 and 124 were signed into law to help address the heroin and opioid crisis in Pennsylvania. PPA was involved with, and fully supports, these Acts. Click here for more information.
  • Act 95 of 2016 (Substitution of Interchangeable Biological Products): Addresses interchangeable biological products and their substitution when they come on the market. Click here for more information.
  • Act 43 of 2015 (Registering Nonresident Pharmacies): Provides for the registration of pharmacies located outside of Pennsylvania who ship, mail or deliver medications into Pennsylvania pursuant to a prescription order. Click here for more information.
  • Act 8 of 2015 (Expanding Pharmacist Immunization Opportunities): Lowers the age pharmacists can provide the flu vaccine only to patients nine years of age and older with parental consent. Trained, licensed pharmacy interns also will be permitted to administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist who possesses an immunization license. Click here for more information.
