Government Relations Advocacy for Student Pharmacists

GRASP (v) to seize firmly; to grab hold; secure

Are you committed to your future career in pharmacy?
Are you passionate about delivering care for your patients?
Would you like to lead or help with efforts to advance pharmacy?
Would you like to develop your advocacy, communication, and leadership skills?
If you said yes to any of the above, then this program is for you!

The Government Relations Advocacy for Student Pharmacists will help you "GRASP" concepts and skills which will aid you as you work to secure a firm place for pharmacy and your patients in the future. Pharmacy practice is constantly evolving and changing, with many outside forces, such as government and insurers, continuing to bring pressure that shape these changes. As future pharmacists, you have the opportunity to be part of this change, but being an effective advocate for your profession is not always easy. You need to learn, develop and hone your communication skills, understand the process and develop expertise which will allow you to be successful. This program will help you "GRASP" the information to help shape a positive future for pharmacy!

You will gain a better understanding of federal and state government and its impact on pharmacy – information which is important for all areas of pharmacy practice. You will also learn tips on sharpening your communication skills – something which can be applied in many life situations. No matter what your future holds, this program will increase your marketability as a pharmacy professional.  Please note we will start with the basics so no high level of knowledge is needed – just an interest to learn and explore!
