Know your Legislator!
One of the first steps in getting involved is to know who are your elected officials: (Per your home/voting district)
- Click here to locate your State Senator and Representative. You will have one Pennsylvania State Senator and one member of the PA House of Representatives.
- Click here to locate your U.S. Congressman and Senators. These are the people who represent you in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S Senate.
Calls to Action
It's extremely important for PPA Members to respond to Calls to Action in a timely fashion and contact their legislator regarding that specific issue that PPA either supports or opposes. It is crucial that when PPA members receive an email with "Take Action" in the subject line that they respond right away! Calls to Action are requests for members to write or phone their legislators, which include the action needed and the timeframe in which a response is needed, along with other details. Anytime a member responds to a Call to Action, it is helpful to copy and/or inform the PPA office of this contact and any pertinent response they might receive. This way PPA can follow-up or remain informed on related activity around an issue. Remember that responding to a Call to Action is a small amount of time invested for a larger gain of protecting the profession. Encourage your pharmacy colleagues to do the same!
Pharmacist Advocacy Teams
PPA is putting together teams of pharmacists from across the state to hit the halls of the state Capitol for half a day to advocate our legislative priorities.
We will provide teams with talking points, strategy coaching, and a game plan of who to visit and what their current position is. We will make it easy to have a conversation about a subject you’re already an expert on with someone whose job it is to listen to you.
Signing up is easy. Simply contact PPA at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you would like to join a team.
