Treatment and Management of Hepatitis C Genotype 1: A Primer for Pharmacists

Hepatitis C treatment has drastically evolved since the development of the first direct acting antiviral agents in 2014. The goal of this program is to allow pharmacists to apply the knowledge learned to patient cases encountered in their practice setting, whether that be in an acute care, community, or ambulatory care environment. Through this program pharmacists will learn the prevalence and pathophysiology of hepatitis C, gain a practical understanding of the direct acting antivirals’ most common drug interactions, contraindications, side effects, and how to manage them, and finally illustrate current barriers to care and controversies surrounding HCV treatment.
