PPA began a new tradition in 2010 with the presentation of the Legislator of the Year Award. This award is presented to an elected member of the Pennsylvania legislature who has demonstrated legislative leadership and support of the pharmacy profession.
This Year's Recipient
The Honorable Frank Farry
Representative Frank Farry was elected to serve the 142nd District in 2008, and has been a lifelong resident of Bucks County where he previously was an assistant township manager and director of community services for Middletown Township. He has also been a volunteer firefighter with the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company since 1990, and has served as chief of the organization since 2001.
He is the prime sponsor of House Bill 2069 which would make several significant, pro-pharmacy changes to the PACE statue; including adjusting the compensation formula to address low federal upper limits in pharmacy reimbursement, instituting a medication synchronization program and developing a proposal for retail pharmacy MTM. He has worked side-by-side with PPA and PACDS to champion this bill through the House of Representatives, and continues to be involved in final negotiations.
Representative Farry is also a member of the Pennsylvania Community Pharmacy Caucus, where he works to advocate for the important role of pharmacists in supporting the health and wellness of all patients throughout the Commonwealth; and is a co-sponsor of both the PBM Registration and Generic Drug Pricing Transparency Bill and the Pharmacy Audit Integrity Bill
