PACE Modernization and Expansion

Summary

These bills would:

  • Increase the PACENET income limits
  • Institute a Medication Synchronization program in PACE/PACENET
  • Expand the Pharmaceutical Assistance Review Board (PARB) to include four pharmacists
  • Direct the PARB to develop a proposal for retail pharmacy Medication Therapy Management (MTM)

Why PPA Supports

Increasing the PACENET income limits will add approximately 32,000 seniors to the program.

Medication Synchronization in PACE/PACENET allows seniors to obtain all their chronic medications at one coordinated time. This is convenient for the PACE/PACENET individual and helps improve medication adherence.

Expanding the Pharmaceutical Assistance Review Board (PARB) will reinvigorate the board by increasing public oversight and allowing for additional pharmacist input, thus enhancing the Board's advisory capacity.

Medication Therapy Management (MTM) allows pharmacist to review all of a patient's medications, including over the counter. This provides optimal outcomes, including appropriate use and adherence, in collaboration with the prescribers.
