Meet Your Advisory Board

Olivia Marchionda, Corresponding Secretary
University of Pittsburgh, PharmD Candidate 2018

1. Why did you decide to run to be a part of the Student Advisory Board?

I joined PPA as a P1 student and I have really loved the experiences that I have had as a member.  PPA has been a great way for me to be involved as a student, and I want to be able to serve as the student voice for an organization that advocates for the profession of pharmacy.

2. What are you most looking forward to accomplishing during your term?

I would love to see an increase in student membership for an organization that is so important to the future of our profession.  I look forward to being able to help plan student events for the Mid-Year Conference as well as encourage participation in student competitions and programs.

3. Where do you see yourself in five years?

In 5 years I will have hopefully completed a pharmacy residency and be working as a clinical pharmacist in an institutional setting.  I also love working with and caring for the elderly so I might also consider specializing in geriatrics.

4. What activities are you currently involved in?

I am currently involved in many of the organizations at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, including Lambda Kappa Sigma and American College of Clinical Pharmacy.  I am also an active member of the Catholic Newman Center where I enjoy participating in weekly activities as well as community outreach.

5. What do you do in your free time?

I love being outdoors.  I enjoy soaking up the sun at the beach during the summer, and I recently discovered that I really enjoy paddle boarding on a lake near home.  I also just love spending time with friends and family, whether its an exciting game night or just relaxing and watching a good movie.

6. If you could have dinner with anyone (alive/dead, real/fake, ect.) who would it be and why?

I would love to meet Mother Theresa of Calcutta.  She lived such a beautiful life and was completely selfless in her ministry.  I would love to sit down with her and understand how she was able to form such a successful missionary team and learn from the way that she loved and served others.  In September of 2016 she will be canonized a saint!
