Meet Your Advisory Board

Sarah Bova, Vice Chair
Ohio Northern University, PharmD Candidate 2018

1. Why did you decide to run to be a part of the Student Advisory Board?

As a founding member of the SPPA chapter at ONU, I quickly fell in love with the family like atmosphere of PPA. Through attending the annual and midyear conferences, I gained a better understanding of PPA’s many programs and projects. I look forward to furthering my involvement and helping student chapters grow and develop.

2. What are you most looking forward to accomplishing during your term?

I am passionate about growing student involvement in SPPA. I realize the value of involvement in our profession at the state level and hope to share this with my peers. Serving on the student advisory board, I look forward to increasing student attendance at midyear and annual conferences, facilitating quality communication between chapters, and adapting programs to meet the changing needs of students. Two projects I am especially interested in include expanding the Katy’s Kids program and creating a letter writing advocacy campaign.

3. Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I hope to be in a position that challenges me daily with opportunities to learn and grow.  Right now, I see myself practicing in hospital or ambulatory care and I look forward to exploring more careers on APPEs.

4. What activities are you currently involved in?

For the past five years, I have been very involved in APhA-ASP, SSHP, and Kappa Epsilon. Through serving on an Ohio Society of Health System Pharmacists Division and as an Ohio Pharmacists Association Student Trustee, I gained an interest specifically at the state level. As I start rotations and leave Ohio, I look forward to more involvement in PPA.

5. What do you do in your free time?

When not in class or studying, I love to be outdoors. Two of my absolute favorite things to do are skiing and sailing. In the summer, I enjoy crewing on a sailboat for weekly races. This summer I am excited to also volunteer with the Downtown Sailing Center to help others learn to sail.

6. If you could have dinner with anyone (alive/dead, real/fake, ect.) who would it be and why?

I would have dinner with Pope Francis. Not only is he a strong leader in my faith, he is a respected world leader. I admire his simply lifestyle and courage to modernize the church.
