Wilkes University Katy's Kids

Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy Katy's Kids

Katy's Kids was developed by the Iowa Pharmacy Association to teach children about medicines and medicine safety.  Presentations are given in classrooms by pharmacists and student pharmacists of the community to kindergarten through second grade students.

Wilkes University created the above interactive poster in which children guess if the bag has candy or medicine in it.  The children loved being able to guess whether the bag had candy or medicine, and were taught that it is okay to guess during this game, but in real life it is extremely dangerous and they should always ask an adult.

The pharmacy students then had the children break into four different stations where they further learned about medicine safety. Click here to view the Wilkes University classroom activities manual.
