Clostridium difficile: Can you smell the new updates?

The purpose of this continuing education program is to present updates in the management of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) have released updated guidelines for Clostridium difficile infections. This continuing education program will review select studies that directly compare metronidazole to oral vancomycin since this guideline no longer recommends metronidazole as a first line agent for mild CDI. Strategies for first recurrence and second or subsequent recurrence will also be highlighted. This continuing education program will allow clinicians to become more familiar with recently updated strategies in managing CDI.
