Below is a list of programs available for obtaining certifications related to diabetes care and education along with information on other training and CE opportunities.


AADE Career Path Certificate Program

The AADE Career Path Certificate Program for Diabetes Self-Management Education provides training for healthcare providers in the delivery of diabetes education and support. The program prepares both individuals new to diabetes education as well as experienced educators in the early and mid-stages of their careers. The program is suitable for healthcare professionals who need additional training in diabetes to meet the needs of their patient population.

APhA’s Pharmacist and Patient-Centered Diabetes Care Certificate Training Program

A newly revised, intensive educational experience designed to equip pharmacists with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to provide effective, evidence-based diabetes care.

Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)

A CDE) is a health professional who possesses comprehensive knowledge of and experience in prediabetes, diabetes prevention, and management. The CDE® educates and supports people affected by diabetes to understand and manage the condition. The CDE® promotes self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that optimize health outcomes.

Pennsylvania Community-Clinical Integration Initiative (PP CCI)

PA CCI is a statewide project whose goal is to improve capacity building and infrastructure to support those with or at risk for diabetes and its related chronic diseases and risk factors.

Board Certified - Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM)

The BC‐ADM skillfully manages complex patient needs and assists patients with therapeutic problem‐solving. Within their discipline's scope of practice, healthcare professionals who hold the BC‐ADM certification adjust medications, treat and monitor acute and chronic complications and other comorbidities, counsel patients on lifestyle modifications, address psychosocial issues, and participate in research and mentoring.

DASPA is a program designed specifically to expand patient access to diabetes management while offering community pharmacies a path to reimbursement for the provision of this service

Medscape is a part of WebMD Health Professional Network that includes theHeart.org and eMedicine.com. Medscape offers a website that links to the most current cardiology CE and education available, click here.


- Pharmacist’s Letter

Pharmacist’s Letter is a subscription service for pharmacists covering new developments in drug therapy and trends in pharmacy practice.  The service consists of a monthly letter as well as a variety of continuing education resources.  The website allows the user to browse continuing education by category, click here.


- PowerPak CE

Postgraduate Healthcare Education, LLC ("PHE") provides Power-Pak C.E.® educational programs for the broad spectrum of healthcare professions.
