Students attending the conference will be able to participate in several hours of student programming each day, as well as sit in on any continuing education programs, meetings, forums, and other events included in the conference schedule.

PPA plans a variety of programs designed with students in mind.

OTC Competition

Played very similar to Jeopardy, teams from each school face off and answer questions from a game board with "interesting" self-care categories.  Pharmacists can obtain CE credit while cheering on their favorite teams! PCP won the competition in 2019, which school will take home the traveling plaque this year? For more information on the OTC Competition, click here.

CE: Career Crafting in the 21st Century: A Toolkit for Pharmacists’ and Pharmacy Students’ Career Development

This workshop is designed for and germane to any pharmacist or pharmacy student with an eye on the future of his or her career and wants to design his or her very own one-of-a-kind career path in pharmacy. Not only will it focus on the individual’s strengths, talents, values and interests, but it will also share through hands on learning activities methods to match skills and fill gaps for next career starts, pivots, and custom designs.

This session will focus on getting both pharmacy students and pharmacists empowered to put your health back into healthcare through managing stress, fitting in fitness, and nailing your nutrition as a pharmacy professional!          Practice Update: Point-of-Care Testing by Pennsylvania Pharmacists

This session will update student pharmacists on recent efforts to increase point-of-care testing services performed by pharmacists in Pennsylvania. 

 

From Bench to Bedside: The Real Deal on Antimicrobial Drug Development and Use

Kenneth Lawrence, PharmD; Senior Director, Medical Affairs, Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals

Vanessa Di Felice, MD, MPH; Medical Science Liaison, Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals

This session will review the principles of antimicrobial drug development and the challenges faced by companies after drug commercialization, using our product Xerava as an example.

 

Getting Ready for OTC Hearing Aids

Amanda Cremeans, University of Pittsburgh, PharmD Candidate 2022

The FDA Reauthorization Act of 2017 established a new class of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids that will be available in community pharmacies across the country as early as 2020.This session will outline how community pharmacists can prepare for the impact of OTC hearing aids.

Know Pain, Know Gain Competition

This competition starts with a rapid-fire elimination round that brings the number of contestants from 10 to 3, finalists will then participate in a mock patient counseling session. Judges develop a patient case, and a mock patient will interact with each finalist for up to seven minutes. For more information on this competition, click here. 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM

Poster Presentations and Reception

Show off all your hard work, and present your poster! Pharmacists may also earn CE credit by learning from students about their work! For more information,click here.
