Mortar and Pestle Award

This award is one of special recognition presented solely at the discretion of the PPA Board of Directors which recognizes service to the pharmacy profession.

This Year's Recipients

J. Douglas Bricker, PhD


Bricker received a BA in Biology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville and a PhD in Pharmacology/Toxicology from Duquesne University. Dr. Bricker is a Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) and a member of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology. Bricker was appointed the Dean of Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in 2006 and has recently stepped down from this role. His efforts in supporting Pennsylvania pharmacy and PPA, as well as his students and faculty, throughout the years he served as Dean were cited as some of the reasons for honoring him. 

 

Patricia Kroboth, PhD

 

Kroboth earned her BS Pharm degree from the University at Buffalo and her MS and PhD degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. She is the Dean of the Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and a Gordon J. Vanscoy Professor. Kroboth is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and a fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. She received the 2013 American College of Clinical Pharmacology Award for Mentoring in Clinical Pharmacology, among other awards. The award recognized her ongoing support and commitment to the future of pharmacy, her student and faculty support, and her commitment to professional organizations such as PPA.  Kroboth was particularly recognized for her behind the scenes commitment and resources for the ongoing operations of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Care Network; a group highly trained pharmacists who deliver high quality patient care through expert comprehensive medication management.
