House Bill 270, sponsored by Representative Frank Farry (R-142), was voted out of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee on May 10, 2017 and now awaits consideration from the full House.

This Bills Would

  • Increase the PACENET income limits
  • Institute a Medication Synchronization program in PACE/PACENET
  • Expand the Pharmaceutical Assistance Review Board (PARB) to include four pharmacists
  • Direct the PARB to develop a proposal for retail pharmacy Medication Therapy Management (MTM)

Why We Support This Bill

  • Increasing the PACENET income limits will add approximately 32,000 seniors to the program.
  • Medication Synchronization in PACE/PACENET allows seniors to obtain all their chronic medications at one coordinated time. This is convenient for the PACE/PACENET individual and helps improve medication adherence.
  • Expanding the Pharmaceutical Assistance Review Board (PARB) will reinvigorate the board by increasing public oversight and allowing for additional pharmacist input, thus enhancing the Board's advisory capacity.
  • Medication Therapy Management (MTM) allows pharmacist to review all of a patient's medications, including over the counter. This provides optimal outcomes, including appropriate use and adherence, in collaboration with the prescribers.
