PC2 Pharmacist Support Letter

The PC2 Advocacy Work Group helps support the PC2 in its role to advocate, lead, and support emerging concepts in pharmacy practices. One of the ways this is accomplished is by collecting support letters from healthcare professionals whom have had an experience with an ambulatory clinical pharmacist, and by supporting the expansion of the pharmacist's role as well as the services they provide patients.

These letters help legislators and other healthcare professionals understand the impact ambulatory clinical pharmacists have on patient care, and play an important role in allowing pharmacists to gain provider status and bill for the services offered.

We would like all PC2 members to submit one letter from a healthcare professional who has had a positive experience collaborating with an ambulatory clinical pharmacist to improve patient care. We appreciate all your help with this endeavor!

The template and instructions are provided below:

Over the last xxx years, I have had the pleasure of working with several pharmacists in my practice and have found they were extremely beneficial in my care and treatment of our patients.

(possibly include language around payment, if appropriate)

If they can insert something about if I were able to include in our practice billing the opportunity to capture the time spent on this coordinated care, we would have better outcomes and I would be able to justify the expenditure which would be offset in cost savings and cost avoidance.

(include sample patient story if appropriate where pharmacist intervention impacted care)

(possibly mention primary care physician shortage)

(sample closing) I would be most willing to offer additional input and share additional experiences with any those considering legislative or other initiatives that would address changes allowing more of this coordinated care.  I may be reached at the contact information below.

Sincerely,
