Meet Your Advisory Board

Amanda Schwenk, Chair

University of Pittsburgh, PharmD Candidate 2019

1. Why did you decide to run to be a part of the Student Advisory Board?
After serving on the Board this past year and enjoying it so much, I did not want my time to end! I only wanted to become more involved and see more students take advantage of all PPA has to offer.

2. What are you most looking forward to accomplishing during your term?

I am most looking forward to learning about the other members of the board; figuring out their strengths and what excites them most, so we can effectively tackle whatever comes our way this year. I am particularly hoping to increase member retention after graduation and organize both statewide and university-specific fundraisers to support the new PPA building!

3. Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years I hope to find myself in an outpatient clinical setting working as an Ambulatory Care pharmacist, likely in Pennsylvania. I will hopefully be saving up money to work as a medical missionary on the Mercy Ships, a fleet of hospital ships that provide medical care to the less fortunate along the coasts of Africa, or with another medical team overseas!

4. What activities are you currently involved in?

Unfortunately I have not been able to stay involved with many campus organizations since beginning my APPE rotations, but I remain a member of ASCP, ASHP, and of course, PPA.

5. What do you do in your free time?

I really enjoy almost any outdoor activity- hiking, biking, running, kayaking, skiing, etc., as well as playing the piano and exploring new sheet music. Basically any traveling or adrenaline rush is welcomed too! I also love hanging out with my family and scooping up all the time I can with my little niece!

6. If you could have dinner with anyone (alive/dead, real/fake, ect.) who would it be and why?

Can I have a combo deal?! Steve Harvey. Ellen DeGeneres. I’m not even sure all of their humor could fit in one room but I’m certain I would never stop laughing. And although we’re studying to be pharmacists, we all know laughter is the best medicine!
