Meet Your Advisory Board

Shannon Ye, Student Director - West

University of Pittsburgh, PharmD Candidate 2019

1. Why did you decide to run to be a part of the Student Advisory Board?

Being an active student member of PPA has been one of the best choices I have made since becoming a student pharmacist; I wanted to take it further by serving a leadership role at the state level.

2. What are you most looking forward to accomplishing during your term?

With the fight for Provider Status and the introduction of many innovative services, students can take a strong role in the advancement of pharmacy.  I hope to motivate my fellow students to become involved with important issues and to take advantage of the many student opportunities that PPA provides.

3. Where do you see yourself in five years?

I would love to see myself managing my own independent pharmacy at that time.

4. What activities are you currently involved in?

I am the Immediate Past Regent of Kappa Psi Beta Kappa and am researching ways to educate college students about the safe use of OTC medications.  As part of the recruitment team, I also manage  PittPharmacy’s Instagram and give interactive presentations at high schools.

5. What do you do in your free time?

When free time comes around, I love Pilates and running outside.  I also enjoy singing and trying out new recipes.  And, with 4 younger siblings, time with my family is incredibly important.

6. If you could have dinner with anyone (alive/dead, real/fake, ect.) who would it be and why?

If you could have dinner with anyone (alive/dead, real/fake, ect.) who would it be and why?

Elon Musk.  With his futuristic innovations that disrupt everyday norms, I would love to hear about his visions for healthcare.  Also, I love astronomy!
