Meet Your Advisory Board

Sophia Cothrel, Foundation Director
University of Pittsburgh, PharmD Candidate 2019

1. Why did you decide to run to be a part of the Student Advisory Board?

I enjoyed being a student member of PPA this past year, and I wanted to become more involved with the organization and to provide input as a student member. I believe that joining PPA as a student is one of the best things student pharmacists in Pennsylvania can do to stay connected and learn about the profession of pharmacy outside of the classroom.

2. What are you most looking forward to accomplishing during your term?

I am looking forward to increasing student awareness of the many opportunities and benefits associated with being a member of PPA so that student pharmacists can take greater advantage of them.

3. Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself living in Pittsburgh and working as either a clinical community or ambulatory care pharmacist, depending on how the next few years turn out!

4. What activities are you currently involved in?

I am an active member of APhA-ASP, PPA, PLS, and Rho Chi at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. Outside of pharmacy school, I teach barre fitness classes for the University and volunteer at a local church.

5. What do you do in your free time?

I like to spend time with family and friends, try new restaurants in Pittsburgh, take ballet classes, and catch up on television and movies.

6. If you could have dinner with anyone (alive/dead, real/fake, ect.) who would it be and why?

Albert Einstein because I would love to talk with someone with such an incredible mind.
