Pharmacists Thank Governor Shapiro for His Support of Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) Reform

Tuesday, February 6, 2024
“On behalf of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, I thank Governor Josh Shapiro for calling out the need for Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform in his budget address today,” says President/CEO Victoria Elliott, RPh, MBA, CAE.

The egregious practices that many use have forced community pharmacies across our commonwealth out of business, limiting access to essential health care and prescription services in both rural and urban centers. In both the House and Senate, state legislators are taking action and are working on bills that will reign in PBMs.

Additional thank you to Senators Ward and Tartaglione, and Representatives Benham and Gaydos for championing these efforts, and their many bipartisan colleagues who have signed onto the bills.

However, pharmacies will continue to suffer until the language lands on the Governor’s desk. We look forward to working with the general assembly leaders to pass this essential reform package.
