Clinical Services

While Pharmacists are not recognized as standalone healthcare providers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, they are able to get reimbursed for specific clinical patient services under some healthcare plans. Examples:

Immunizations

Licensed Pharmacists in Pennsylvania are able to provide immunization services to patients in the pharmacy. There are rules for age minimums.

Diabetes Prevention Programs (DPP)

This program is for pharmacists to provide preventive care for patients who are prediabetic.

DSMES

This program is for pharmacists to provide ongoing patient monitoring for those diagnosed with Diabetes by a physician.

Tobacco Cessation

This program allows pharmacists to counsel and provide services for patients who are seeking to quit tobacco usage.
