Point of Care Testing/CLIA Waiver

PPA has embarked on an initiative to get 25 community pharmacies set up this year (Oct 2018-June 2019) to do Point of Care Testing in their pharmacies.  We hope to do more next year between July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

With PPA's program you get:

  1. Access to a series of webinars to help you prepare for as many individuals as you would like.  Any pharmacists or pharmacy technician who may help with your program may access them.  There is no CE credit.
  2. Complimentary Mid Year 2019 conference and NACDS Point of Care Testing (POCT) training for one pharmacist from your pharmacy (but they must be a PPA member).  Attendee must also register for the Mid Year conference but may pick from any of the packages for the conference that they wish.  We encourage you to potentially take advantage of all the other programs and benefits offered at Mid Year as the total registration for any package is complimentary.  The Point of Care Testing is on Friday so at a minimum an attendee would need to register for the Friday package and the Point of Care Testing – this is a separate registration.  The PPA Mid-Year will be January 24-27, 2019 at the Gettysburg Wyndham.  Additional pharmacy team members may attend the Point of Care Testing only at their cost.
  3. Once an individual is registered for the POCT, PPA will provide instructions on how to complete the 16 hours of pre-work for the course.
  4. Information and $150 to cover your application fee to the PA Department of Health for the lab license once you apply, as long as that application is submitted to DOH by April 30, 2019 and PPA is provided with a form and copy of the application by May 15, 2019.

Of course, any pharmacy can also get set-up to do this on their own, but a little guidance and assistance is always helpful.  Below are some resources to help you:
