Message to PharmD students

One of my favorite duties in my service to you is to point out the good that is going on in our ranks. In our world where we face many challenges, it’s always good to give you good news. This message is to do just that.

The good news I need to report out will be played out seven times across our commonwealth over the next month. That good news is the class of 2026.  May I be the first of many to say to you, congratulations. Your achievements are something to be celebrated.  And that we shall do.

I’m mindful that you are the first post-pandemic class. When you were contemplating your futures 4-6 years ago, you did so with a lot of uncertainty.  But you took a chance. You answered the inner voice that called you to pharmacy. Here you stand today, going into a career that still have some significant challenges.  However, I have complete confidence that you are ready, able, and willing to face those challenges given the circumstances that have led you to your call to serve and heal.

To the class of 2026, the days of preparation are now coming to a close. In the next few weeks, you will commence, and start your journey. We here at PPA are prepared to support your journey. Your officers and Board are working day in and day out to give you a brighter future. I certainly look forward to witnessing your journey play out.

To the classes of 2027, ’28, and ’29, continue to be diligent in your days of preparation. You will need to hit the ground running when it is your turn to commence. That being said, feel good that the class of 2026 is already starting to pave your way, just as all the previous classes have done.

Finally, to the class of 2028, while you now take your place amongst the ranks of pharmacists, you gain great privileges.   Likewise, you now have great responsibility on your shoulders. That being said, you do not bear that responsibility on your own. You are our professional family.  In that, we are don’t ever pass a torch. We light your torch, and journey together.

Congratulations to all the graduates. Enjoy you celebrations. You have earned them. I, and the other officers and Board members look forward to celebrating with you. We have plans to be at all of them. So look for us. We’ll be there to cheer you on, give you love, and celebrate all you’ve accomplished.

Peace and blessings,

Darryle Tillman, Jr.
