What is the NASPA/NMA Student Pharmacist Self Care Championship

The signature event of the PPA Conference has been the student OTC Skills Competition sponsored by the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) and Non-prescription Medicine Academy (NMA).

How it works

Played very similar to Jeopardy, teams from each school face off and answer questions from a game board with “interesting” self-care categories. Pharmacists can obtain CE credit while cheering on their favorite teams! Always a fun learning event.

The skills ccmpetition consists of two rounds, each with 5 categories and 5 questions per category for a total of 50 questions. Questions are worth a varying amount of points and the difficulty level of the question is designed to match with the increasing point values.

All questions have to do with over-the-counter medications and self-care treatments. After both rounds, there will be a Final Question. Teams will be able to wager any amount of their total accumulated points on the final question.

Congratulations to the 2026 Champions… Wilkes University!
